Authentic Kanaga mask from Mali, West Africa. The mask is from the Dogon tribe in Northern Mali. It is danced at the funeral of an important person as a send-off to the deceased and reinforces the cultural practices and taboos. This is a male mask as evidenced by the “hands” at the edge of each crossbar on the opposite sides facing each other.
