Low Chest
LOW CHEST with sliding drawers behind two front doors.
Pale green and gold cowhide covers the top and sides. The same leather is used on the two front doors and is enhanced with a vintage pair of Mid-Century green and gold pulls. When the doors are opened, there is a medley of vintage and antique silk and lambskin. Note that the sides, top and bottom and vintage gilded metal decorative fittings from the altar of a Japanese Buddhist temple repurposed here as pulls for the four drawers.

All of the interior surfaces are lined with panels of harmonizing vintage silk. Low leather-covered interior legs have been recessed to give the object a feeling of floating.
